Thanks to You, We’ve Helped Create a School Like No Other
At Komodo we believe that education is important for all children, and so we are delighted to announce that our charity partner, Many Hopes, has opened its first school after four years of planning and building.
Many Hopes aims to break the cycle of poverty and abuse in Kenya by rescuing children from the streets and giving them an education.
The new facility, called the Mudzini School, opened with nine classes of children aged between 4 and 11, and will eventually teach 900 children in 44 classrooms.
‘Education is key, it is the key to everything. I love studying, reading, because I feel good learning more so I’ll be able to help others.’- High school student with Many Hopes in Kenya
Thomas Keown, who cofounded the charity, said: “When we meet girls in the streets with no homes and no food and rags for clothes and we ask them ‘What do you want us to do for you?’ the answer is almost always the same: ‘Take me to school’. Thanks to Komodo learning, right now children who would not have accessed education are topping their class and taking steps to university.”
The charity also provides stable homes for children who have experienced poverty, trauma or abuse.
It is you, our subscribers, who make our donation possible. Thanks to you, Many Hopes is able to help ensure that a generation of children in Kenya have the foundation and education necessary to break the cycle of poverty and injustice.
